Digital Campaigns Training: Challenging Gender Narratives

As part of the FemRise project, coordinated by Asociația A.R.T. Fusion, we gathered in Tunisia for an international training on Online Campaigning and Gender Narratives. Participants came from Tunisia, Romania, Lebanon, Jordan, Portugal, and Egypt, all ready to challenge the stories we are constantly fed online.

FemRise is a two-year European initiative focused on analysing and challenging dominant narratives around gender and feminism through research, international trainings, and campaigning activities.

As part of the activities, a training on Digital Campaigning was organised in Tunisia. I led the digital campaigning sessions, focusing on strategy, structure, creativity, and practical tools to help participants turn narrative analysis into concrete online campaigns.

I was in charge of the full process for the Digital Campaigns sessions: planning, preparing, and leading from strategy to execution, always adding a touch of creativity to the sauce.

The sessions were designed using non-formal education methods, combined with selected models commonly used in marketing campaigns and a theoretical foundation.

Participants:

  • Explored the key steps of a digital campaign, from identifying the problem to defining objectives and impact.

  • Understood the strategy behind effective campaigning, moving beyond posting content to building coherent narratives.

  • Applied recognised marketing models adapted for social impact and youth-led initiatives.

  • Learned how to identify and analyse target groups and audiences, and create messages for them using storytelling techniques, and strategic communication tools.

  • Tested ideas and concepts through games, drawing exercises, group sprints.

By the end, participants developed 6 complete digital campaigns, from concept and positioning to strategy, content planning, and initial content production.

The training’s success is clear: participants fully engaged in practical exercises and group work, and 24 out of 25 rated 4 or 5 out of 5, reflecting high satisfaction and impact.

The digital training was part of the FemRise research component, equipping participants with the skills, methods, and practical tools needed to design and run international campaigns in six countries.
