Adventures in Europe: board game

Adventures in Europe is an educational board game created by Eurodesk to help young people explore youth mobility programmes in the EU, promote Eurodesk’s initiatives, and share European values in a fun and interactive way.

The mission was to create a giant map of Europe, adapting the countries so that people could stand on them — including the very small ones. The challenge was to design the map with varying proportions while keeping each country’s shape recognisable.

I used my illustration skills to draw the map, giving each country a unique pattern to help distinguish it from its neighbours. This visual approach made the map easy to navigate and visually engaging — while also serving a practical purpose: making it more accessible for people with colour blindness.

Accessibility was a key part of the process. All colour choices were tested to be colour-blind friendly, ensuring the game could be enjoyed by all.

The game was featured in EYE 2025 at the European Parliament in the Eurodesk Gamezone.

The result is a playful, inclusive, and well-crafted resource that helps young people connect with Europe — one country at a time.

Alongside the map, the game includes 211 playing cards, a rule booklet, a custom card box, and a string bag — all designed to bring the experience to life and support the game’s educational goals.
